WILD TASMANIAN SEAWEED (Superfine)

Our Wild Tasmanian Superfine Seaweed is a wonderful product to use in cooking, a pinch sprinkled on meals or in baking. It is a sea kelp which contains prebiotic fibres and is nutrient rich. It’s an excellent source of iodine, an essential trace element required for normal thyroid performance, metabolism and the development and function of the brain, nerves and bones.

Iodine was one of the first trace elements to be identified as essential but unfortunately it’s depleted from our soils, in other words, our foods.

Benefits of iodine (source Food Standards Australia New Zealand)

  • Necessary for normal production of thyroid hormones
  • Necessary for normal neurological function
  • Necessary for normal energy metabolism
  • Contributes to normal cognitive function
  • Contributes to the maintenance of normal skin

Seaweed also contains the amino acid tyrosine which along with iodine can help the proper functioning of the thyroid gland. Seaweed is an excellent source of fibre essential for gut health and our gut microbes love to devour it.

Directions: take one pinch (.2g) daily.

Serving suggestions: Sprinkling seaweed on your food adds flavour and texture to your meals plus a supercharged boost of vitamins and minerals. A pinch of seaweed can be added to salads, cooking, sushi rolls, soups, baked goods and smoothies.

Lee says: “I keep seaweed in a small bowl on my kitchen bench. I like to keep it handy as a reminder to take it daily and to add it to whatever I’m making. It’s just so nutrient dense!”
